Johni Hardiman, Secretary

Johnette joined the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office in 1987. She became the Division Chief of the Criminal Intake Unit in 1992. During her tenure she developed, implemented and directed the Worthless Check Diversion Program and also came the Division Chief for that Unit. She also had responsibility for the branch offices of the State Attorney's Office. Johnette served in that capacity until her departure in 2003. In October 2003, Johnette joined the law firm of Steel Hector & Davis LLP in the Immigration and White-Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Compliance practices. In July 2004, Johnette returned to the State Attorney's Office and is currently in the Public Corruption Unit. She works with civic groups and is part of the State Attorney’s Office Speakers Bureau. She is active in Florida Bar activities including serving as the Chair of the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee (11A) and serving on the Standing Committee for the Unlicensed Practice of Law.  She has previously chaired a Grievance Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida, Inc. where she co-chairs the Alumnae Committee.  Johnette is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts as well as the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida and the District of Columbia. She is a member of the Dade County Bar Association, CABA, the University of Florida Alumni Association, Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity Alumnae Association, and is a founding member of the League of Prosecutors.

William Altfield

William (Bill) Altfield has been a prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office since 1987. He is currently assigned to the Public Corruption Unit and is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of complex corruption cases involving elected officials, police officers and other persons in public employment. He has been cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for two separate police corruption cases. From 1988 through 1991 Mr. Altfield also prosecuted numerous violent and capital sexual crimes cases while assigned to the Sexual Battery Unit. He is currently a chairman of the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office Recruiting Committee and has been on the committee for 16 years. Mr. Altfield is also very active in the training of new Assistant State Attorneys by volunteering his expertise as a judge in various moot court training sessions including the Florida Bar’s annual Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial competitions. Mr. Altfield has also served as a lecturer to various programs including the University of Miami School of Law, University of Miami School of Business, Florida International University College of Law, law enforcement agencies and public schools. Mr. Altfield was a guest panelist at the 2003 Criminal Justice Ethics Symposium located at the University of Miami. Mr. Altfield was a member and Chairperson for the Florida Bar (11i) Grievance Committee and is currently the Chairperson for the Florida Bar (11B) Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. Mr. Altfield has joined the faculty of the Florida Supreme Court’s Justice Teaching Project which commenced in 2006. He has been a mentor for the Take Stock in Children Program since 2002. He has also continued his commitment to community theater by recently forming a non-profit theater group known as the Miami Acting Company, Inc. Mr. Altfield was also a Board Member for the Miami Children's Theater, Inc. and Miami Stage Company, Inc. Mr. Altfield graduated from the University of Miami in 1982 and the University of Florida College of Law in 1986. He was a member of the National Moot Court Board and received the "Best Team" and "Best Oralist" Awards at the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Intramurals Cup Finals. He was also a member of the University of Florida Trial Team and placed in the top three for the Intramural Competition which paved the way for his appointment as a student member of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court.

David Kahn

David Kahn served as a Miami-Dade County prosecutor from 2005 through 2010. During his time as a prosecutor David worked within the Narcotics division specializing in the prosecution of high-level Felony Drug Trafficking cases. David supported local and Federal law enforcement agencies with Narcotic related investigations assisting with Search and Arrest warrant review, Confidential Informant work and Complex motion practice. He also worked to plan regional, statewide and multistate drug enforcement operations. David has donated his time to speaking at local schools and presenting to students how the Miami-Dade County state Attorney’s office works to make our community safer. He currently serves on the Addiction Services Board of the Miami Dade Board of County Commissioners to address community drug addiction issues and possible solutions. David is the Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of Biscayne Bay and assists in planning and implementing numerous charitable and fundraising events throughout the year to benefit the originations goals of helping children. He is also on the Board of Directors for Neat Stuff, a local nonprofit designed to provide new clothing to homeless and at risk children. Working with Leadership Miami thru the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce David recently helped to create a new community service program to address College Preparation and life skills for a group graduating seniors at Miami Central High School.  David is an active member of the Dade County Bar Association and serves on the Criminal Court Committee. As a member of the Cuban American Bar Association he serves on the Mentoring and Scholarship Committee. As an active member of the American Bar Association David participates in the Criminal Justice Section’s Prosecution Function Committee as well as the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division and Young Lawyers Division. Currently David is an associate with the law offices of Green, Kahn and Piotrkrowski P.A. and practices real estate, probate and criminal law.
