Nelson Bellido

LOP Past President 2008-2009

Nelson BellidoNelson Bellido served a s a Miami-Dade County prosecutor from 1993 through 1997. From 1995 to 1999, Nelson was also an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Florida Memorial College and a certified Adult Education Teacher for the Miami-Dade County Public School System wherein he taught American History and Government in preparation for the Immigration & Naturalization Service (“INS”) examination. Nelson is currently of counsel for Shook, Hardy & Bacon’s Miami office. He is a member of The Florida Bar, the Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Bar Equal Opportunities Committee, the Cuban American Bar Association and the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Committee. He is also the Dade County Bar Director of Legal Services and was a panelist for a Mediating Commerce/Cases Seminar.

Nelson is currently the President of the Duke University Alumni Association of the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Chapter. Nelson received his B.A. from Duke University in 1989 wherein he earned the Duke University Leadership Award. He received his Juris Doctor in 1992 from the University of Florida College of Law where he was honored with the Trial Team-Outstanding Senior Advocate Award. Nelson is admitted to practice before the state courts of Florida and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Nelson served as the LOP president in the 2008-2009 term.
